What is the difference between the Academy and the Challenge?

The GovTech Academy is designed for small businesses already operating who wish to sell their services or digital products to government or public service.  The GovTech Academy Challenge is aimed at students and recent graduates who have an idea or product they wish to develop, but have not launched their business yet.

can anyone take part?

am i eligible for funding?

What type of funding is the scholarship?  Will it be counted towards my State Aid limits?

Does the scholarship affect our investment opportunities?

Our primary focus is SME's who would like to sell their digital services or products to government or the public sector; you can be an established business wishing to diversify in to a new market, or a start-up.

We have c.10-12 scholarships available for businesses that meet our criteria and who we feel will benefit most from the programme.  You must meet the definition of an SME as specified here: http/ec.europa.eu/enterprise/policies/sme/facts-figures-analysis/sme-definition/index_en.htm as well as have a registered or trading address in London.

The support provided is part funded by ERDF and will comply with General Block Exemption regulation (GBER), GBER Innovation Aid for SMEs article 28.  For more information on this or if you have any questions, please contact us.

GBER state aid does not affect your SEIS or EIS funding.

How does it work?

How many people from my business are able to attend the Academy?

Who will be my mentor?

Applicants selected for the Academy will join a cohort of c.10-12 teams who will participate in a 2 day Boot Camp (14th-15th September  2018 - you must be available for these dates and attend both days).  Follow up 1:1 mentoring will then be provided by our expert mentors as well as access to our bi-monthly CivTech forum connecting you with like-minded individuals and organisations enabling you to build your network within this exciting space.  There will also be monthly meetings with your cohort where you will set goals, hear from one of our expert mentors and build your network.

Each business will be offered 2 places on the Boot Camp and at least 1 person must attend each follow up session.

We have mentors with a range of backgrounds and sector experience so will match you with the most suitable person to your need.
